Glassware
Like wine, different shapes and types of glassware can enhance your overall drinking pleasure. We start
with clean pint glasses at room temperature. Even faint traces of soap or other rinsing agents can ruin
the delicate head on beer.
Temperature
Although a "frosty mug" sounds refreshing, beer served in frozen glassware losses much of its flavor and
character. The colder the beer, the less flavor your palate is able to perceive. As a general rule of thumb,
the darker the beer - the warmer the serving temperature. As your palate for fuller flavored beer develops
so will your acceptance of warmer temperature. As an experiment, try taking a bottle of your favorite
craft-brewed beer and pouring half into a glass at room temperature. Pour the rest into a frozen mug and
taste the difference for yourself.
Pouring
At Emmett's we have a saying "An honest pint guaranteed." That means 16 oz. of your favorite beer will
arrive in a 20oz. glass. Why? Because a properly poured pint should have at least a one inch head. By
serving our beers in 20 oz. glasses you're assured a true 16oz. pint with the proper head.
